Jeannette Armstrong, laxx̌laxx̌tkʷ (The Sound And Sparkle Of A Small Brook Rushing Along), is Syilx Okanagan, a fluent speaker of nsyilxcen and a traditional knowledge keeper of Okanagan Nation. She currently holds the Canada Research Chair in Okanagan Indigenous Knowledge and Philosophy at UBC Okanagan. Through her teachings and her activism Jeannette challenges common notions of sustainability and economics. Radiating a humble but urgent intensity, she is a leader in Indigenizing environmentalism.
