Indigenous Innovators was created by Animikii in 2016 to highlight Indigenous Peoples around the world who are enacting positive change for their communities, Peoples, and organizations.

To us, an Indigenous Innovator is so much more than a person; they are individuals who are actively working for social, economic, and societal change for Indigenous Peoples.

In order to be considered as an Indigenous Innovator, nominees must meet the following requirements:

  • Innovators must identify as an Indigenous person.
  • Innovators must have contributed, in some form, to the overall improvement of societal, economic, or social change for their communities, industries, or organizations.
  • Innovators must guide their practices by at least one of the Seven Sacred Teachings of Love, Courage, Truth, Respect, Humility, Wisdom, and Honesty.
  • Innovators must work, to some degree, in the public sphere as a way to enact long-standing and impactful change.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, don't forget to nominate your Innovator to be featured as one of our weekly Indigenous Innovators!
